Some Lesser Known Architectural Wonders of India

The above picture is of the "Hanging Pillar" in  Veerabhadra Temple at Lepakshi, Ananthpur in Andhra Pradesh, South India.  To demonstrate that the pillar does not make contact with the floor, two persons are passing a towel from side to side.

Before geometry became part of school curriculum, Indians were masters of symmetry, as demonstrated by the above photograph of steps leading to a tank of water
