MOUNTAINS, MEADOWS AND LAKES OF KASHMIR
This short segment is designed to give the visitor a flavor of the overwhelming beauty of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Located at the farthest north end of India and climbing onto the long and high mountain ranges called the Himalayas (this name means "abode of snow" in Sanskrit), this state is blessed with breath-taking scenery. This was the reason why the state was once the prime location for tourist from abroad but this flow has all but ceased due to the violence of terrorism, as a result of quarrel between India and Pakistan over the ownership of this state, and the inevitable communal strife between the Hindus and Muslims. For more photographs and descriptions, the readers are directed to the appropriate section in the "Places to visit".
